Michigan's Kyle Whittingham provides update on QB battle between Bryce Underwood, Tommy Carr

The Michigan Wolverines have an overall record of 4-3 and are 1-3 in the Big Ten, which isn't where this historic program wants to be. The Wolverines also haven't been inside the AP Top 25 Poll for weeks.

The Wolverines recently fell 13-6 in an overtime battle against the Indiana Hoosiers. In that game, Michigan head coach Kyle Whittingham tapped a different starting quarterback, Tommy Carr, since Bryce Underwood was having trouble. Of course, they didn't get the result they wanted, and the Wolverines lost. So, will Carr start again, or will it be Underwood?

On Monday, Whittingham was asked who would start as quarterback for the team's game at Rutgers on Saturday. He gave an update, saying that the decision is still being made.

"That's to be determined," Whittingham told reporters. "I don't want to play this game every week about who's going to start, but that will be a decision we'll make in the next couple days here."

He also said that the Wolverines would keep the decision secret "until somebody lets the cat out of the bag and go from there."

Whittingham said that "Tommy was gaining experience" on the field and "having an opportunity to run all the reps with the first last week in practice and be the guy. I thought he handled it pretty well, but obviously, again, we've got to continue to get better play across the board."

Carr closed out the game 20 of 32 passing for 167 yards. He had his moments, but a bad one that stood out was a second-quarter interception that certainly helped Indiana.
