Texas QB Arch Manning jokes about dressing as classic comedy character for Halloween

Give us some tots, Arch Manning.

The Texas Longhorns quarterback revealed Monday that he watched the 2004 comedy "Napoleon Dynamite" shortly after a gut-wrenching 27-24 loss to the Florida Gators in Week 7 to get in a "good mood."

That worked. Manning led the Longhorns to a 34-27 home win over the Ole Miss Rebels in Week 8. The QB joked he may dress as the title character for Halloween.

He should. It would be good fun, which he could use.

Arch Manning remains under scrutiny even after win over Ole Miss

Even after the win over Ole Miss, questions about Manning linger. Against the Rebels, the QB completed 18-of-30 passes for 212 yards, tossing one touchdown and two interceptions. Manning has now thrown two picks in two of his past three games.

The turnovers against Ole Miss were boneheaded, but he atoned for it by making some game-changing plays. That included launching a 50-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Ryan Wingo in the second quarter. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said the throw was "elite" in his Monday news conference.

If Manning reduces mistakes and keeps generating explosives, the Texas offense may finally find its groove. Heading into their home game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs (4-3) on Halloween, the No. 11 Longhorns (5-2) rank 12th in the SEC in yardage (370.4 YPG) and 10th in scoring (30.7 PPG).

Texas will lean even more on its offense if Bulldogs sophomore QB Kamario Taylor (right foot) plays. HC Jeff Lebby provided no update on the QB's status during his Monday news conference, but if he suits up, expect him to help put points on the board. The passer is tied for 13th in the country in TD passes (17).

Until then, Manning may want to rewatch the same movie. Heck, show up in full costume before the Longhorns host the Bulldogs. Longhorn fans won't mind so long as he doesn't play like Uncle Rico.
