The NFL may have 99 problems right now, but finding the league’s next Super Bowl halftime performer ain’t one.
Several news outlets confirmed Monday night that rapper and music industry mogul Jay-Z will headline the Super Bowl halftime show on Valentine’s Day next year.
The 56-year-old Brooklyn native will be taking the stage at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California.
The selection of Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, is interesting because his entertainment company, Roc Nation, actually serves as a co-producer for the Super Bowl halftime show. With Jay-Z serving as Roc Nation’s chairman, he essentially chose himself.

The NFL signed a deal in 2019 to make Roc Nation the league’s live music entertainment strategist. Jennifer Lopez and Shakira were the first performers to headline under Jay-Z’s creative direction in 2020. The Weeknd, Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, and most recently Bad Bunny were among the performers to follow since then.
Carter concluded his limited Jay-Z 30 Tour, which commemorates the 30th anniversary of his debut album, “Reasonable Doubt.”
