One of the most intriguing storylines of the 2026-27 NBA season has been watching the return of Indiana Pacers star point guard Tyrese Haliburton.
Haliburton missed the entire 2025-26 season while recovering from a torn Achilles. Through the first four games this season, he's looked like the star he was the last time he was on the court.
His comeback story has come to a brief pause, though, with the latest injury update provided on Wednesday.
According to ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania, Haliburton has suffered a left hamstring strain that will sideline him for a period of time.
Charania reported that there has not yet been a timeline revealed, as Pacers doctors and Haliburton are coming together to discuss and gather a clear timeline for his return.
It is a major blow for Indiana, as Haliburton had started the season strong. He is averaging 21.8 points and 9.5 assists per game on 51.6 percent shooting from the field and 37 percent from three-point range.

Rick Carlise said on @1075thefan that Tyrese Haliburton will meet with a hamstring expert, Pacers docs, and team execs at 4:15. "We'll hope this hamstring thing is not a big deal or not any kind of a long-term thing. But as I said, we'll know more about that later this evening."

There were hardly any major injuries in the NBA offseason and preseason, but they've all decided to pile up within the first week of the season. Haliburton now joins a long list of injured star players that includes Anthony Edwards, Kawhi Leonard, Jalen Duren, Jalen Williams and others.
Despite the stellar start for Haliburton, the Pacers are just 2-2 through four games. To make matters worse, Indiana is without its backup point guard, T.J. McConnell, as he is also dealing with a hamstring injury.
That means there will be a real lack of depth and experience at the point guard position while both remain out. Indiana will need Haliburton's injury to be minor, so he is able to return to action rather quickly.
