The Los Angeles Lakers' undefeated season came to an end on Tuesday night in a 136-129 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers at Crypto.com Arena.
The Lakers had a lead at halftime, but the Blazers scored 68 second-half points, including 34 in the final quarter, to get the victory in L.A.
After the loss, Lakers center Walker Kessler took the blame on his shoulders after a poor defensive outing by L.A.
"I got to personally be better on the defensive side... Giving up [136] points is not acceptable. We'll figure it out," Kessler said, via Lakers Nation.
The Blazers saw Ja Morant and Damian Lillard combine to score 44 points, and Deni Avdija added 23 points as four total Portland players crossed the 20-point threshold. The Blazers hit four three-pointers in the final four minutes of the game, with Lillard hitting two of them as Portland took the lead and managed to win the game.
This marked the second straight game where L.A. allowed 120 or more points, although the 136 is a season-high through the first four contests of the season. Kessler and the Lakers don't have much time to think about this game, as they face the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday before traveling to Northern California to face the Golden State Warriors on Friday.
