The Toronto Blue Jays' priority this offseason revolves around bulking up on offense.
In 2026, they ranked last in runs scored (648), home runs (152) and RBI (616), putting up one of their worst offensive campaigns following their stellar 2025 World Series run.
Chicago Cubs' outfielder Ian Happ is a free agent that would help cater to their offensive needs.
The 32-year-old switch-hitting left fielder has provided consistent power, crushing 20 or more home runs in each of the last four seasons. He is coming off a sharp 2026 season where he hit 24 home runs with 68 RBI across 156 games.

Happ exemplified stellar plate discipline with a 12.7% walk rate (89th percentile) and a 23.9% chase rate (85th percentile).
As a four-time Gold Glove winner (2022-25), he would also help stabilize the corner outfield alongside elite defensive outfielders Nathan Lukes, Brett Bateman and Myles Straw.
His veteran production perfectly complements the Blue Jays, who are already linked to Cubs' slugger Seiya Suzuki. Happ would also be a suitable fit to fill the designated hitter role with free agent George Springer likely departing.
Considering Happ is coming off a three-year, $61 million extension with the Cubs it is unlikely that he will demand a hefty contract. Happ has spent his whole career with the Cubs, but considering the team's disappointing early exit in the postseason he will likely want to test the open market.
