Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Julian Lewis suffered a medical emergency on Wednesday that led to the redshirt freshman being transported to a nearby hospital.
Lewis is recovering, according to his family.
“Yesterday, Julian experienced a medical emergency at the University of Colorado athletic facility and was promptly transported to the hospital,” wrote Lewis' family in a statement released to social media.
“He is recovering and thankful to his medical team, teammates, and Colorado fans for their prayers and support. Please respect Julian and the Lewis family’s privacy. We will have no further comment at this time.”

Colorado acknowledged the medical emergency, but details remain scarce at this time.
"Colorado Athletics extends our full support to JuJu and his family through this medical emergency," the school said in a statement, per Max Olsen of ESPN. "He remains in the thoughts of every CU player, coach, and staff member and we will continue to assist in any way we can in his full recovery. His health and well-being remain our top priority during this time."
Lewis has not played since Colorado's 23-13 loss to the Baylor Bears on Sept. 26. He was the starter to open the season but was benched in favor of Isaac Wilson.
In four games, Lewis completed 61-of-95 passes for 733 yards and six touchdowns with two interceptions.
He's a former four-star recruit, ranked as the No. 6 quarterback in the class of 2025, according to the 247Sports Composite.
