A night that included a celebration in honor of the World Series champion Milwaukee Brewers ended with the Green Bay Packers leaving Lambeau Field with a much-needed victory on the "Thursday Night Football" stage.
Green Bay defeated the Carolina Panthers, 27-19, exposing their opponent and showcasing more of their own potential. And the Packers were even in the midst of a blowout win until Bryce Young and Carolina put together a late touchdown drive within the final six minutes of the game.
But also this game told two stories for Green Bay. First, the Packers can generate a pass rush even without Micah Parsons on the field. Second, they can be as dangerous as anyone offensively when Jordan Love is at his best.
Coming into the game, the Packers were reeling after a 20-17 loss to their NFC North rival Detroit Lions. At 4-3, they were in last place in the division standings despite the winning record. They had to get the win, and they did.
Love enjoyed one of his most efficient performances of the season, completing 30 of his 41 pass attempts (73.2%) for 288 yards. He averaged seven yards per completion and threw three touchdowns to one interception. When he was on, the offense was able to move the ball, though it was also clear that the Packers need to establish a ground game in order for the unit to ever reach its true potential.

The Packers were only able to run for 66 yards as a team. And All-Pro running back Josh Jacobs, in his second game back from opening the season on the commissioner's exempt list, totaled just 39 yards on 21 carries, equating to a pedestrian average of 1.9 yards per rushing attempt.
Jacobs actually failed to even reach 40 yards — he totaled 36 yards in his season debut against Detroit — for the second straight week.
And regardless if it's an offensive line issue or rust due to the layoff for Jacobs, the Packers can't expect to be so one-dimensional and truly contend in a crowded NFC.
For a major positive, the defense sacked Young six times, costing the Panthers 33 yards. Demonstrating a versatility in the group's ability to get to the quarterback, the sacks were from six different players, too.
While Love has thrown for more yards in the past — his season-high is 387 yards — he completed over 70% for the third time this year.
Having to step up without much run support again, Love delivered, especially in the first half, as Green Bay scored 20 of its 27 points in the opening frame.
Love now has 2,246 passing yards, 17 touchdowns (16 passing, one rushing) and six picks through eight games on the year.
