Logan Cooley's buzzer-beater completes hat trick as Mammoth beat Penguins in OT

Utah Mammoth Logan Cooley center forward was in dominant form against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.

And his timing couldn't have been better.

The 22-year-old's hat-trick buzzer-beater helped contribute to the Mammoth's 4-3 overtime victory. He completed the hat trick with a clutch late-game equalizer in the third period, scoring with only one second remaining in regulation. Talk about an impressive way to force the game into overtime.

The Pittsburgh native, who now has seven goals in 14 games, opened the scoring in the first period. Cooley got a little help from Penguins defenseman Erik Karlsson, who turned over the puck, enabling Cooley to score.

Logan Cooley makes franchise history following hat-trick performance

Cooley's family was in the stands to witness his scoring the latest regulation goal in franchise history at 59:59. Cooley has now scored extra-attacker goals in consecutive games. His other came on Tuesday Oct. 27 against the Minnesota Wild at 58:39.

The young rising star has also scored six of the Mammoth's last eight goals on the road, going back to Oct. 15 against the Edmonton Oilers. His third goal of the game came 24 seconds following Penguins forward Ben Kindel's go-ahead goal.
