Brewers' Cooper Pratt will celebrate Fanta-stic World Series title without booze

The Milwaukee Brewers finally won their first World Series Wednesday night.

Most players would drink to that, but not Brewer Cooper Pratt. The 22-year-old rookie sensation's celebration will be champagne-free.

Cooper Pratt's relgious beliefs prohibit him from drinking alcohol

A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Pratt adheres to the religion's Word of Wisdom by abstaining from alcohol.

Instead, Pratt's drink of choice after Milwaukee's postseason wins has been Fanta. Pratt should have the beverage in hand for the Brewers' ticker-tape parade Friday in Milwaukee.

Pratt's Fanta trend all started on Oct. 7, when he couldn't find sparkling cider to celebrate with teammates after the Brewers beat the Padres to advance to the National League Championship Series.

He found bottles of the orange-flavored soda instead.

“I was like, ‘Oh, this will work,’” told the Church News.

Pratt's faith found a national spotlight throughout the postseason, as he went viral for celebrating Milwaukee's series wins with orange Fanta and sparkling cider rather than the traditional champagne and beer.

Pratt set a rookie World Series record by getting a hit in six straight plate appearances over Games 4 and 5.

In doing so, the 22-year-old became the first player to record a hit in six straight World Series plate appearances since David Ortiz of the Red Sox in 2013.

In 121 previous editions of the World Series, no rookie had ever tallied four hits and a home run in a single game, nor had a rookie knocked hits in six consecutive at-bats.

Pratt accomplished both feats against the Rays.

For the five-game series, Pratt batted .421 (8-for-19) with an epic 12th-inning home run in Game 4 and seven RBI.

Let the Fanta flow.
