It hasn’t even been one month since Maryland and head coach Mike Locksley mutually agreed to part ways. Yet, he has found a new job in college football.
Locksley is following the Brian Kelly route, and the ex-Maryland coach will join the Big Ten Network as a studio analyst for the remainder of the season, according to Matt Fortuna of Sports Business Journal.
Fortuna added that Locksley will begin on Friday on “The B1G Show.” The ex-Maryland coach will then appear on Saturday, which includes “B1G Countdown to Kickoff” going into the Purdue showdown against his former employer.
Maryland and Locksley parted ways on Oct. 21 after a 2-5 start. Locksley finished with a 39-54 record during his nine seasons at Maryland, but the Terrapins had back-to-back 4-8 seasons entering 2026.
Locksley is expected to be part of the coverage through the Big Ten Championship Game, and there is a chance that he sticks around for the College Football Playoff as well.
Locksley knows a thing or two about the Big Ten during his time at Maryland, so it’s an interesting move by the network to bring him to the coverage.
Former LSU coach Brian Kelly has been on CBS Sports calling Mountain West Conference games this season. And, Kelly’s name even circulated for the Maryland opening.
Since then, the Florida State job also became available following the firing of Mike Norvell, and the college football coaching carousel is only just getting started.
