Pass-rusher Maxx Crosby has remained the subject of trade rumors ever since it was learned this past March that the Las Vegas Raiders were willing to trade him to the Baltimore Ravens for two first-round draft picks, until Baltimore backed out of the deal due to concerns related to his surgically repaired knee.
Crosby has since told just about anybody who will listen that he wants to remain with the Raiders. On Wednesday, he made it known that his feelings haven't changed.
"I love being a Raider. I’ve said that a million times," Crosby said, per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. "This is where I want to be. Super excited, obviously for the present, but also for what’s to come."
The Raiders starting the season with three consecutive wins largely silenced talk about the club possibly acquiring draft assets for Crosby ahead of the NFL trade deadline, which arrives at 4:00 p.m. ET on Nov. 10. However, Las Vegas then suffered four straight losses, and that poor run of form led some to wonder whether the club could revisit a potential Crosby trade.
Following the Raiders' win over the New York Jets on Nov. 1, it was reported that Las Vegas is not "actively trying to offload Crosby, who provides them value now as well as whenever they transition from Kirk Cousins to rookie first overall pick Fernando Mendoza at quarterback."
Reports have indicated that the Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns, San Francisco 49ers, Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears are among teams that could want to acquire a player at Crosby's position before the sun sets on Nov. 10. As of Thursday morning, he was on track to play for the 4-4 Raiders at the 6-1 San Francisco 49ers.
It sounds like Crosby won't want to join a contender even if the Raiders get blown out at San Francisco's Levi's Stadium.
"I’m not thinking too far down the road. I’m being present," Crosby added. "We’re 4-4. We’ve got a really good football team. I love this locker room. I love the guys. We have great leadership. [Head coach Klint Kubiak] is a really good coach. We have [Robby Leonard], who is a first time being a [defensive coordinator]. He’s doing a hell of a job. We’ve got a lot of new faces, new pieces, a lot of young guys as well. I love where we’re going. We’ve got a lot of work to do. We know that. That’s the beauty in it. Everyone can say whatever they want."
On Thursday, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Raiders as 10-point underdogs against the Niners.
