Klay Thompson was already thinking about beating his former team moments after making the biggest shot he’s made since joining the Miami Heat.
Thompson sank the game-winning 3-pointer in overtime to give Miami a 117-116 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif.

The five-time NBA All-Star Thompson was still feeling it during the postgame interview, as he sent a message to the Golden State Warriors, who are set to host the Heat on Friday at his old stomping grounds, Chase Center in San Francisco, Calif.
“Hopefully I can continue to stay afloat because I made a lot of buckets in that building, Thompson said. “It’s fun to beat up on old friends, so that would be awesome to come away with back-to-back wins.”

It’s been over two years since Thompson last played for the Warriors, but he’ll forever be a legend in the Bay Area. Alongside Stephen Curry, Thompson formed arguably the most lethal backcourt in NBA history and helped Golden State win four championships.
The 36-year-old Thompson, who scored a season-high 30 points on 11/22 shooting with eight 3-pointers against the Clippers, was traded by Golden State to the Dallas Mavericks in 2024. The Mavs waived him in the summer before he signed a 2-year, $11.48 million contract with Miami.
