Breece Hall admits to 'love-hate relationship with Jets fans' as trade deadline nears

Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic is among those who have suggested the New York Jets could and even should acquire a future draft asset or two for running back Breece Hall before the NFL trade deadline arrives at 4 p.m. ET this coming Tuesday.

It sounds like Hall wouldn't necessarily be heartbroken if he ends up with a different team this fall.

Breece Hall on relationship with Jets fans: "It is what it is"

Per ESPN's Rich Cimini, Hall acknowledged on Thursday that he has a "love-hate relationship with Jets fans."

"That's part of being an athlete in New York," Hall continued. "You have to deal with that because they want you to be available, they want you to play, they want you to play very well. So it is what it is."

Hall missed the Jets' last five games because of a quadriceps injury, and he sparked questions about a possible desire for a trade when he deleted social media accounts. However, Hall revealed that decision was related to messages he received about not playing for the Jets amid his injury recovery.

"I've had people threatening me and my family on social media," Hall said. "So that's not something that's good for your mental health that you should be looking at. So I'm just like, all right, if people think it's that serious, if you're willing to go that low, then it's like nothing that I need to look at."

Breece Hall ready to share the workload, but could he want a fresh start?

The Jets reportedly want Hall and fellow ball-carrier Braelon Allen to serve as a one-two punch out of the backfield. That said, Allen showed that he could serve as the club's primary back during Hall's absences.

"It's like if I have 100 yards, they love me," Hall said about the trade rumors. "If I don't, everybody's like, 'Get him out of here.'"

This past spring, Hall signed a three-year deal reportedly worth up to $47.75M. It was assumed at the time that contract made Hall the Jets' RB1, but he suggested on Thursday that he has no problem sharing the workload with Allen.

"I've always been the advocate of when Braelon comes in," Hall explained. "He loves the ball, so that's never been a problem for me. I think it's just been a product of the O-line starting to play really well and Braelon's been playing really well. So I think no matter who's in there is going to be successful."

At least one recent story linked Hall with the New York Giants, but his "part of being an athlete in New York" line could lead one to believe he would want to leave the area if he is traded. The San Francisco 49ers, Green Bay Packers, Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, Cincinnati Bengals and Minnesota Vikings are other teams that reportedly could trade for a running back before the sun sets this coming Tuesday.

As of Friday morning, Hall was on track to play for the 2-6 Jets at the 5-2 Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday.
