The Minnesota Vikings could be set to pull off something special before Tuesday’s trade deadline at the quarterback position.
Kyler Murray has been sidelined for Monday’s game against the Buffalo Bills due to a hamstring injury. Carson Wentz is now set to take on the QB1 role under Kevin O’Connell, as speculation over the long-term cover at the position rumbles on in the background.
“I’m watching the Vikings QB position, especially when they have an all-world defense that’s good enough to win a Super Bowl, where they need the QB to play well, where they need the offense to produce. Again, with everything going on, I’m watching the Vikings QB position,” ESPN's Adam Schefter said on Friday.
Naturally, this has stirred the pot, with fans putting two and two together and coming out with five. This was clearly the case as reports circulated on Friday evening that former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr was lined up to return to the NFL with the Vikings.

Carr officially retired last year following 11 seasons in the league. A return for the 35-year-old has been mooted a number of times since his retirement, but it seems as if the former quarterback is content with his life away from the game.
“Breaking news from the Homegrown Network here: Derek Carr is confirmed to have had a workout today with the Minnesota Vikings. Can you confirm?” said Carr’s friend.

“I had a workout in Bakersfield, California, at the football facility. What?” Carr jokingly replied.
The Vikings are going to have to look elsewhere, and the options for a cheap trade are extremely limited, given general manager Nolan Teasley will want to add a QB capable of balancing the offense with their incredible defense.
Considering the Vikings already have a solid backup in Wentz, the plan would surely be to bring in an actual starter from another team. However, that is not going to come cheap, but Teasley may view this as the Vikings’ opportunity to get to the Super Bowl with the way their defense is playing.
Having seen the struggles the Seattle Seahawks have endured this season, Teasley will be all too aware that you have to strike while the iron is hot.
