Report addresses Lamar Jackson’s future with Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens look like they may be playing out the string on a lost season, but that apparently has no bearing on quarterback Lamar Jackson’s future with the organization.

There is no reason to believe Jackson will leave the Ravens this offseason, according to Jonathan Jones of The Athletic. Jackson and the Ravens failed to agree to a long-term deal in the offseason, and his $84.8 million cap hit is not something the team is likely to be willing to pay. Despite this, there was no animosity in the failed contract talks, and both sides appear eager to run it back in 2027 in some form.

This is also one of the reasons the Ravens are poised to hold on to Derrick Henry instead of trading the star running back. It is thought that trading Henry would send a worrying message to Jackson about the team’s commitment to winning in the years to come.

Jackson’s uncertain future, combined with a potentially season-ending injury, has still been enough to lead to speculation that the quarterback has played his last snap with Baltimore. Even some of his teammates seem less than certain of whether he will be back next year.

Jackson has spent his entire nine-year NFL career with the Ravens. This will, however, be the fourth of those nine seasons the quarterback has missed noticeable time due to an injury.
