Ravens Will Not Trade Derrick Henry; Giants Called About RB Justice Hill

Derrick Henry’s name has been mentioned in recent trade rumors. The future Hall of Famer will not be on the move at the upcoming deadline, however.

The Ravens have informed Henry he will not be traded, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. That comes as no surprise given the stance for team and player in this case. Baltimore’s preference has been to keep Henry in the fold through 2026. The Ravens have lost four straight games to fall to 4-5, and it remains to be seen if Lamar Jackson will return this season.

Even so, Baltimore intends to continue contending for a playoff spot. New QB Jacoby Brissett will take over on offense beginning in Week 10, and Henry figures to continue handling a key role on offense. The 32-year-old said after Thursday’s game he wants to continue his career with the Ravens. Henry is under contract through 2027, although his base salary for that year is not guaranteed.

In the event a trade received consideration, the Giants and Patriots represented logical landing spots. Henry began his career under Mike Vrabel, who is now in New England. During the 2024 and ’25 campaigns, meanwhile, he played under John Harbaugh. Harbaugh’s Giants are known to be in the market for a running back addition, and Schefter reports the team called about Ravens backup Justice Hill.

Hill has spent his entire eight-year career in Baltimore, making him a highly familiar face for Harbaugh. The former fourth-rounder has carved out a role as Baltimore’s top pass-catching back over time, and his work in pass protection and on special teams add to his value. Hill is attached to a salary of $2.75MM in 2026 and is a pending free agent.

Jonathan Jones of The Athletic writes it is still likely Jackson spends next season – the final year of his contract – in Baltimore. Questions about his future have resurfaced in the wake of Week 8’s thumb injury, although the Ravens are believed to once again be willing to make a major financial commitment in the form of an extension this spring. Keeping Henry, Jones notes, will be an indication of Baltimore’s intentions for the remaining weeks of the season and beyond.
