The South Carolina Gamecocks have been playing college football since 1892.
Despite the long history of the program, the Gamecocks have rarely ever won four consecutive games in SEC play. That feat has now been accomplished twice (2024) under head coach Shane Beamer, but he hasn't been the only key piece involved in both streaks.
Quarterback LaNorris Sellers has led the charge in both four-game conference winning streaks and he once again played the hero in Saturday's 17-9 win over Texas A&M.
Sellers left the game in the second quarter with an ankle injury but later returned in the second half. It wasn't until late in the fourth quarter that Sellers looked like himself, but it certainly paid off when he did.
With the Gamecocks leading 10-9, Sellers exploded for a 41-yard touchdown run to give South Carolina an eight-point cushion. Sellers needed assistance getting off the field, but he showcased his guts and determination despite obviously being in pain.

With the four consecutive wins, South Carolina will enter Week 11 with a 6-3 record and with a real path to a College Football Playoff bid.
None of that will matter, though, if Sellers is not 100% healthy. Outside of the 41-yard touchdown, Sellers struggled through much of the second half with the injury he suffered. He was very limited with what he was able to do on the field, and it was a major reason the Gamecocks did not score until midway through the fourth quarter.
South Carolina will be favored in its upcoming game against Arkansas, and if it takes care of business, the Week 12 showdown against the SEC-leading Georgia Bulldogs will have the eyes of the college football world.
It will be of utter importance for the Gamecocks that Sellers is 100% healthy for the showdown against Georgia. If he is, South Carolina will have a chance to continue its winning ways and keep pushing toward a chance to compete in the CFP.
