Marking a historic moment in the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA), 1999 stallion Wimpys Little Step, also known as Wimpy, has achieved the extraordinary feat of amassing over $13 million in offspring earnings. This achievement places him as the second stallion to reach such a significant milestone in NRHA history, further establishing him as a premier sire and a formidable influence in the reining industry.

Owned by Silver Spurs Equine, Wimpys Little Step is a product of exceptional lineage, sired by NRHA Hall of Famer Nu Chex To Cash and out of Leolita Step. His own career—limited to six outings in the show pen—is marked by remarkable achievements, including being an earner of $185,757, a 2011 NRHA Hall of Fame inductee, the 2002 NRHA Futurity Open Champion with the highest composite score in NRHA history, and the 2002 Congress Open Reining Futurity Champion.

Wimpy’s impact was evident from his first foal crop, which produced six NRHA Futurity Open L4 finalists, including the NRHA Futurity Champion. In total, 32 of his offspring in that initial crop earned more than $750,000. This sire's influence in the reining industry was further solidified when he became the only stallion to have an offspring—Wimpys Little Chic from his first foal crop—win the NRHA Futurity, NRBC, and NRHA Derby back-to-back. Wimpys Little Chic also holds the title of the all-time NRHA #1 leading money earner.

Wimpy is the only stallion to have produced two offspring earning more than $300,000 each—Wimpys Little Chic and RC Fancy Step. His top-earning offspring, including Wimpys Little Buddy, Wimpyneedsacocktail, and Xtra Dun Step, continue to prove Wimpy as a sire.

Reflecting on Wimpy's career, Michael Miola, owner of Silver Spurs Equine, shares, "Wimpy is so special to us. We are so happy that he can enjoy a long and relaxing retirement. God must have been in a great mood the day he created horses."

Sarah Flarida, Silver Spurs Oklahoma Ranch Manager, adds, "Seeing Wimpy officially hit this milestone is so exciting for us. He's been a defining figure in the reining world for a long time. With all disciplines included, he's nearly at $14 million in earnings. His daughters have also been producing significantly, contributing over $9 million. Being a part of his story is an honor."

As Wimpy enjoys retirement, his legacy in the NRHA continues to set the standard when it comes to genetics in the reining industry. Now no longer standing to the public, his impact remains a testament to his extraordinary contributions to the sport of reining.
