Building Skate Spots With Mike Anderson

Mike Anderson is a blue collar dude and a lot of the guys involved in the Dickies skate program are too. Vincent Alvarez is always building spots and straight up constructing DIY parks, Guy Mariano is no stranger to creating a spot for a show-stopping ad—dig in behind the scenes here and see how Mike Anderson and the team get down, pouring concrete, and whatever else needs to be done to get the photo and clip. Pro skateboarding ain't all switch flips and hotel rooms, sometimes you gotta get your hands dirty.

At the first spot attempt, right after the 'crete job was done, the owner pulled up and freaked out, but Mike handled it like a vet.

Plan b was the bump to electrical bump you see in the thumbnail photo. You might remember this bump from such films as Grant Taylor's latest Nike SB part... The bump was a bit too steep for Mike and Vincent so they smoothed that SOB out with some fresh 'crete and the sesh was on.

Mike's got a radical backyard if you didn't know. The Sour team was in town back in 2019 to premiere their video and had a backyard session and barbecue. Manderson is always the host with the most!
