The Vans Half Cab is—and always will be—one of my all-time favorite skate shoes. Its unique silhouette has always stood out and the options for random updates and color combos are seriously endless.
Two new colorways of the Half Cab were recently added to the Vans Premium line and are now available at finer skateshops across the US, as well as the Vans site. "Both feature full suede uppers in either Oatmeal Beige or Steel Shadow Grey," our friends at @houseofhalfcab mentioned on Instagram. Swipe through the post below for a closer look.
"Originally known as the Vans Steve Caballero, the Skate Half Cab was Vans' first signature skate shoe," the Vans site reads. "It launched in 1988 with all the performance benefits skateboarders demand, including unparalleled grip and durable vulcanized construction. It went on to become one of the most iconic and culturally significant shoes in the history of skateboarding. Inspired by skateboarding's history of subverting the luxury space with adapted premium details, the Premium Half Cab Shoe reinvents one of our greatest icons for a progressive twist on an all-time classic."
If I had to choose, I'd say I'm really feeling the Steel Shadow Grey colorway. But honestly, you can't go wrong with either. The shoe is simply iconic!
The Half Cab originally entered the skateboarding world in 1992 as a response to skateboarders literally chopping off a layer of the original Caballero shoe. We’ve all heard the stories, you've heard the stories—it's all legendary. And that legacy lives on today.
Damn, we've seen more than a few reimagined Half Cabs drop this year, and we're barely wrapping up January! Is 2026 the year of the Half Cab!? Don't quote me, but so far, so good. Keep 'em coming! Get a closer look here.
