Skateboarding has shifted a lot over the years, and skate shoes have evolved right along with it. Puffy, technical skate shoes are nothing new, either, but they've certainly made a comeback these last few years. And the new 770 from New Balance Numeric is the perfect example.
It’s designed for modern day skateboarding, but it’s also built with enough comfort and support to carry over into everything else you do. That’s a huge win, you ask me. The shoes just dropped today, too, so of course our friends at Southside Skatepark did what they do best by breaking down all the important details of these impressive kicks. Take a look:
"The 770 is a modern reintroduction of a versatile ‘90s classic. Originally designed as a cross-trainer and quickly adopted by tennis players for unmatched court stability, the 770 has been remixed and refined for skateboarding," Southside mentions.
"This hybrid sneaker is built for the street, the court, and the gym, offering a more generous lifestyle fit and premium durability, while including all the hidden Numeric details you would expect: dual-layered toe, hidden lace loops, and tongue-centering straps."
Long story short—this shoe is versatile, stylish and built for whatever you wanna throw at it.
Skateboarding is changing. There's no denying it. And seeing a brand like New Balance design a shoe that's built for an active lifestyle as much as it is for skateboarding itself is super rad, if you ask me. Skate 'em. Wear 'em to the gym. Shoot, you could probably run a 5K in them without any foot pain. I'm backing these hard.
Again, the shoes hit skateshops today, September 12. Roll down to your local and snag one of the first pairs! Both colorways rip and something tells me we'll be seeing plenty more in the near future.
