The second year of the Rockstar Energy Open closed out the weekend with three new champions, a packed house and good vibes. Over the three day weekend, more than 34,000 fans visited Tom McCall Waterfront Park.

The Women’s Street Final saw a Japanese podium sweep led by Coco Yoshizawa. Ibuki Matsumoto laid down a heater in her first run to take the top spot ahead of the rest of the field by more than 10 points. But on her final run, Coco landed a run that included a kickflip frontside boardslide the handrail, gap to back 50-50 on the bump to hubba, backside tailslide on step-up wedge ledge, backside lipslide flatbar, frontside bluntslide the flat bar, 360 flip up the step-up and a bigflip frontside boardslide the handrail to take the win. Twelve-year old Mei Oseki, who was a VQS competitor in 2024, took the third place win.

“I couldn’t land all the tricks I wanted to in practice, so I wasn’t expecting to win the competition. I had so much fun and I’m super happy I was able to pull it off,” said Coco Yoshizawa

The energy was electric during the Men’s Park Final, where Tom Schaar bested defending 2024 winner Yuro Nagahara and X Games gold medalist Gavin Bottger for the win. With an effortless style, Tom’s second run - which included a frontside tailslide, tailgrab 540 on the vert wall, stalefish, Smith stall on the Rockstar logo, frontside blunt center island vert extension, frontside feeble grind, heelflip Indy, kickflip Indy to fakie, Cab disaster, alley-oop tailgrab over hip, bigspin backside lipslide on the vert wall and an Ollie to fakie over hip - was enough to earn him a victory lap. Although Gavin briefly unseated Yuro in the third round of runs, Yuro’s final run put him back in the second place spot.

In the Men’s Street Final, Kairi Netsuke dominated from his very first run, earning a commanding score of 94.83. Across his opening two runs, he came out on fire, landing 23 flawlessly executed tricks without a single fall - nearly double the number of tricks of anyone else. Those 23 tricks were a backside noseblunt on the handrail, nollie frontside heelflip over the hip, Cab heelflip on the quarterpipe, frontside tailslide 270 out off the bump to ledge, nollie inward heelflip backside 180 over the bump to bump, backside nosegrind the flat bar, nollie backside heelflip the hip, bigflip up the step-up, heelflip backside lipslide down the handrail, and finished with a nollie inward heelflip over the hip.

“I landed my heel tricks and was very happy about that. There are a lotsof tricks in skateboarding and I wanted to show the crowd the best tricks ever - that’s where my inspiration is coming from” said Netsuke.

Rookie Julian Agliardi surprised himself, jumping from ninth position to second in his final attempt after falling on his first two runs. Brazil’s Ivan Monterio earned the third place finish, coming all the way from the VQS series to land on the podium.
