Since the day it was built in Porto Alegre, Brazil, the Centro Administrativo Fernando Ferrari (CAFF) has caught the eye of countless skateboarders. Why? Because the thing looks like a giant quarterpipe—that's why! And over the years, the idea of actually skating it has been more of a joke than a real possibility.
Well, Sandro Dias decided he'd be the guy to challenge that joke...and did. At 50 years young, Sandro dropped in on this beast today, September 25, and broke two world records in the process. Red Bull live-streamed the whole thing earlier, and it's absolutely insane, to say the least. Take a look:
I had so many questions before this wild ride actually went down today. How did Sandro think of this in the first place? I mean, I guess we know now, but to truly want to do this is insane. Did he need to wear specific clothes? Yes. Normal board? No. Did he bail at all? Yes. Were you on the edge of your seat like I was? I'm sure you were.
The two world records he broke? Highest drop-in ever and the fastest speed reached on a standard skateboard. And yes, Guinness officials were there to lock it in.
It's hard to fathom what was going on in Sandro's head as he took the plunge. Not bad for a random Thursday, right!? Skateboarding is so insane...and stuff like this keeps those four words factual. You're a wild man, Sandro! Congrats. I really don't even know what else to say.
