As far as the "gnarliest tricks in skateboarding" are concerned, Milton Martinez's kickflip into the Sunset Carwash bank is certainly up there. This spot is as unforgiving as they come, which is why it's no surprise that only a select few have ever stepped to it.

And while every trick and every person who's ever thrown their body off the roof and into that terrifyingly steep bank deserves their praise, it's the battles and stories behind the clips that really make them legendary.

All this to say: Milton recently uploaded a new behind the scenes video from his attempts, battles, slams and everything else that came with securing that groundbreaking kickflip—shot through the lens of Austin Ayub—and uploaded it to his YouTube. We love raw clips, but this is seriously next level. Hold on tight and press play.

"This one took years," Milton mentions on YouTube. "I broke my foot the first time I tried to ollie it, and it stuck with me for a long time. I came back multiple times, and this is footage from two different days of attempts. Super stoked it finally worked out. Thanks to all the homies for the hype and support."

I remember standing at the top of the carwash when I was younger just to get a proper perspective of it, and honestly, just standing up there had me scared as hell. No video will ever do justice to how steep that bank truly is. The drop is way higher than it seems as well.

It's just wild when a spot looks gnarly on video because you know it's a million times gnarlier in real life. And this is the perfect example of that. To jump down that thing as many times as Milton did—through all the blood, sweat and broken bones—and not give up is something we can (and should) all admire. That's skateboarding. One-hundred percent.

I think all skaters would agree that this beloved little hobby of ours can certainly be described as a passion, but for dudes like Milton, it’s a straight up family legacy! In case you didn’t know, Milton was basically born on a board, growing up inside his parents’ skate shop in Mar del Plata. His dad (Tatu) is unarguably Argentinian skateboarding royalty, and the apple obviously didn’t fall far from the tree. Learn all about Milton's history in the post above.

Anyways, for those of us who weren't on the legendary Sunset Carwash session, this is the next best thing. You can literally feel the energy through the screen. Milton is as real as they come. Crazy to think that this is just one of the countless insane sessions he's had. This is what it's all about nonetheless. Yeah, Milton!
