Watch: Giovanni Vianna Returns to Santo André for a Raw Look at His Skateboarding Roots

All the best skateboarders come from somewhere. Every story is different. Every path is unique. But the mission is always the same. Skate, skate, skate! Brazilian powerhouse Giovanni Vianna is no different.

In a new video from Monster Energy, we get an inside look at Gio's hometown of Santo Andre, Brazil, and a personal look at the streets that shaped his style, drive, and general love for skateboarding. If you were already a fan of Gio's skating, his inspiring story will only add to the admiration. Take a look:

At this point in his career—and certainly depending on where you are in the world—Giovanni Vianna is arguably a household name these days. He's skated all the major contests, secured some big wins, finds himself on the podium often, and is constantly out there giving it his all.

On the other hand, he stays busy in the streets and has accomplished so much off the contest course all the same. His video parts are always bangin', he's constantly progressing, and he simply possesses that unique drive that skateboarders (and really all athletes) need to succeed.

Do yourself a favor and revisit his Primitive part above, especially if you need a refresher. The dude delivers, and learning about his humble beginnings makes his entire journey from then to now that much more admirable.
