Not even a week ago, Go Skateboarding Day roared back in full force around the world. If one city and one spot were the epicenter of it all, it was New York City with its Brooklyn Banks recently reopened after fifteen years. Vans, Gotham Park , Steve Rodriguez and many more made it possible, and on June 21, the first day of summer, thousands of skaters from across the five boroughs and beyond pulled up to the bricks under the Brooklyn Bridge and got busy. Check out RB Umali's recap video:

"2 minute video recap of #GoSkateboardingDay2025 for @vansskate @theskateparkproject @gothamparknyc.Thank you to @stever_nyc @justin_villano_ and all of the skaters filmers and photographers who helped make another day at the banks for the history books.Additional filming by @andresbill @yerboy #GoSkateboardingDay #BrooklynBanks #RBUmaliFilmAndVideo"

We were lucky enough to be down there on June 5 when the NYC mayor showed up and cut the ribbon to make things official.

And we also have been catching up with some NYC OG skaters to hear tales of when  the Banks were a little more dangerous. First up, Bruno Musso:

And Weedmaps! A name we haven't heard in skating in a few years, organized ten Go Skateboarding Day cash-for-tricks-style contests in ten different cities across the US! Check their recap. What a day.
