Big news for skateboarding’s coaching community (which honestly might be bigger than most imagine), World Skate is proud to roll out the Certified Education Provider (CEP) accreditation—a huge step toward creating global standards for Olympic skateboarding coaching.

"We’re proud to launch the Certified Education Provider (CEP) accreditation—an exciting step toward global Olympic skateboarding coaching standards," World Skate mentioned on Instagram. "National Federations with recognized coach education programs can now apply to deliver Level 1 & 2 CEAS courses and have their certified coaches listed in our international coaching database."

What Is the Certified Education Provider Accreditation?

The CEP accreditation is a key development in the implementation of WSK's Coach Education Accreditation System (CEAS). The CEAS sets clear standards for what coaches should learn through formal education programs, helping to make skateboarding more accessible and ensuring the safeguarding of coaching practices worldwide.

I'll be honest—a lot of this stuff flies straight over my head, but again, coaching is a big part of skateboarding these days for the younger generation of hungry up-and-comers. Most of us grew up skating crusty parking lots and empty schoolyards, but this new generation has their eyes on the gold (quite literally) and it's just how it is these days.

Love it or hate it, skateboarding is bigger than it's ever been, and stuff like this will happen more and more often. In all honesty, it sounds positive, but I'm curious to hear what other corners of skateboarding have to say about it... if anything at all.

At the end of the day, the CEP accreditation doesn’t just validate these programs—many which are already set in place—it raises the bar, connects skate coaches globally, and will inevitably open up more opportunities for both individuals and federations to step in and keep the stoke alive.

"Raise the bar. Get recognized. Go global." World Skate concluded.
