No offense to Arizona Snowbowl, the state of Arizona's largest ski resort by vertical drop, but many Americans aren't aware that there's skiing in the state to begin with, let alone to be done in May.
When most Americans think of Arizona, they envision cactus-lined highways, sandy deserts, and a hot sun burning overhead. Look a little further north of places like Sedona and Flagstaff, however, and The Grand Canyon State sports towering snow-covered peaks and dense forests.
Located on the flanks of the 12,360' Agassiz Peak, Arizona Snowbowl averages 260 inches of annual snowfall and has a robust snowmaking system to boot. This season clocked in below-average at 193 inches of total snow, but it's proving to be enough for Snowbowl to open for one final weekend.
As confirmed in a social media video posted today, April 30, 2025, Arizona Snowbowl will reopen from Friday, May 2 through Monday, May 5, 2025 for a bonus weekend of skiing and riding.
Lift tickets will cost as low as $19 for the weekend. As of today, tickets cost $19 for Friday, $35 for Saturday, $25 for Sunday, and $19 for Monday. Snowbowl uses a dynamic pricing model that increases in value based on demand.

Arizona Snowbowl will run the Arizona Gondola and the Hart Prairie Chairlift from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the bonus weekend, conditions and weather permitting. The resort has not stated which trails will be open at this time.
A quick glance at Snowbowl's webcams shows that there's not a ton of snow left on the mountain, no surprise for late April, but the resort has been known to announce multiple season extensions in the past. Snowbowl extended skiing into June for the first time ever last season thanks to an above-average season of snowfall.
It's unclear if the resort will make it to June again (unlikely considering the below-average year) but stay tuned to Snowbowl's social media and here at POWDER for updates.
Go skiing, Arizona. Make the most of Snowbowl's Bonus Weekend and have fun!
