Some iconic ski brands took years to make it big, while others caught on seemingly overnight, dominating certain areas of the ski industry thanks to their undeniable cool factor. Chamonix-based freeskiing brand blackcrows is certainly one of the latter, in no small part thanks to the efforts of co-founder and marketing mastermind Camille Jaccoux. After nearly 20 years at the company, Jaccoux has announced he is leaving and moving on to his next, yet unspoken, adventure.
Jaccoux, who co-founded blackcrows with fellow Chamoniard Bruno Compagnet, was instrumental in growing the French ski company into the iconic brand it has become today, with one of the most stacked athlete rosters in the sport, a library of epic video content, music festivals, and simple yet recognizable topsheets and ski designs beloved the world over. It's a brand built on culture first and foremost, and happens to have some pretty awesome product to back it up.
On an Instagram post announcing his departure, a veritable who's who of skiing commented, wishing Jaccoux well on his next adventure.
Jaccoux started his career as a professional freeskier, competing at the highest level, including the Verbier Xtreme and numerous other contests, before founding blackcrows in 2006. Fiercely independent and undeniably French, the brand now sells skis, skins, poles, technical apparel, backpacks, and accessories.
In 2023, Jaccoux posted stories of his battle with cancer on social media, writing about how he equated it to some of the challenges he has faced in the mountains.
