November, 2024 has come in with a real bonus, with 3-4 feet being reported at several resorts.

A system that provided moderate snow for much of Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado early last week stalled over the four corners. It cranked out impressive totals, with the highest resort snowfall in New Mexico favored by easterly upslope winds. Colorado was not far behind.

Snow Totals, Last 7 Days- November 3-10, 2024:

San Isabel (South of Colorado Springs): 54 inches

Cuchara (Southern Colorado): 46 inches

Pajarito: 41 inches

Angel Fire: 40 inches

Sandia Peak: 36 inches

Copper: 35 inches

Breckenridge: 33 inches

Wolf Creek: 28 inches

Taos: 26 inches

Vail: 17 inches

Denver Airport: 19 inches

Generally, totals were the highest in the New Mexico Ski Areas; however, a bonus burst of 2-3 inches per hour snowfall rates surprised both Copper and Breckenridge in Colorado with 15--20 inches mid-last week and another 5-10 late week.

The next barrage of moisture comes in two pieces for Canada and the Cascades. It will spread south over the Sierra and tease the Rockies as they weaken with their easterly progression.

FORECAST LOOKS DEEP FOR SOME AREAS OF THE WEST.

The upcoming week will be very active, with two wet systems moving into Canada and the Pacific Northwest. Temperatures will start relatively cool with snow levels in the 3500 range and rise by Wednesday to 4500 feet. It might be a bit cooler in northern Idaho and most of BC. Wet base-building snow is likely at many areas with some rain below 4,000 feet.

Expected Snow Totals Through Friday, November 15, 2024 (2 Storms):

Whistler Blackcomb Summits: 35 inches

Mt. Baker Ski Area- Mid to summit: 25-35 inches

Stevens Pass: Mid to Summit: 10-18 inches

Crystal Mountain: 12-20 inches

Mt Bachelor: 12-16 inches

Kirkwood: 8-10 inches

Moisture decays somewhat as this storm exits the Sierra and moves over the Rockies midweek. Its northward track impacts central Idaho, the Tetons, Wasatch, and Colorado midweek (light to moderate snow).

A second storm enters the Pacific Northwest by Wednesday, November 13, with a slight warming trend for the Cascades.
