The Pacific Northwest just scored eight inches of overnight powder at Mt. Bachelor, Oregon on May 12, 2025.
This first system of the week is now moving east and will take a northerly track over the Rockies bringing snow to many areas through Wednesday morning, May 14, 2025.
Cold air will overspread the west with this first surge of moisture dropping snow levels to near 7500-8,000 feet. The Sierra will also see some impacts from this storm albeit on the light side.
Expected snow totals by Wednesday, May 14 2025:
Red Lodge, Montana: 15 inches
Absaroka Mountain Range (Wyoming): 15 inches
Big Sky, Montana: 7-10 inches
Snowbird, Utah: 2-5 inches
Palisades Tahoe, California: 1-3 inches

After some warming later this week, a second storm moves into the west from Sunday to Monday (May 18-19, 2025). This will take a slightly more southern track over Utah.
Expected Snow totals from Storm #2 (May 18-19, 2025):
Wind River Range: 12-18 inches
Snowbird, Utah: 9-14 inches
Telluride, Colorado (closed for season): 5-10 inches
Tetons: 3-5 inches
Sierra: 2-5 inches
The seven day snow totals for the west are respectable with both storms bringing up to 20 plus inches in some spots by early next week. Models can change with storm #2 nearly five days out.
