Eagle's Nest is one of Palisades Tahoe, California's most formidable descents.
The line is in view of the KT-22 chair—which ratchets up the pressure levels considerably—and features a steep apron followed by airtime and a rapid compression. In short, the thing will pack your lunch if you're not careful.
But professional skier Connery Lundin isn't afraid of getting into the gnar. So, recently, he sent it.
Under his post, Lundin noted that he encountered several rocks on Eagle's Nest during his descent, hence the "pause."
He extrapolated further in a comment provided to POWDER. "Skiing the Eagle's Nest feels steep and exposed, but the thing I'm most afraid of is the lurking rocks," Lundin wrote. "One wrong move, and those rocks will buck you down the entire face. The key is being light on your feet and knowing what sharks are hiding where beneath the snow."
In a video shared during the fall of 2022, legendary ski filmmaker Scott Gaffney explained what can happen when you miscalculate a trip down Eagle's Nest after he suffered a gnarly crash skiing the line.
Spoiler alert: Gaffney encountered those rocks Lundin mentioned.
