Legendary skier Lindsey Vonn went viral at the 2025 ESPY Awards on Wednesday night because she suffered an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction.

Vonn was nominated for the Best Comeback Award at this year ESPYS. The three-time Olympic medalist came out of retirement last November after undergoing a partial knee replacement. This past March, she placed second in the super-G at the World Cup Finals. At 40 years old, she became the oldest female Alpine skier to make the podium at a World Cup race.

"Never in a million years would I have ever expected to be back here," Vonn said. "I mean, when I saw you last, it was emotional because I was ending my career and that was it. That was the end, and I definitely wish that it hadn’t been the end because I love skiing and it’s always been my passion since I was a kid, but my body was no longer cooperating. Thankfully with this partial knee replacement, now I’m lucky enough to have the chance again."

While sports fans celebrated Vonn's comeback earlier this year, they ripped her to shreds Wednesday night because of her ESPYS outfit.

Vonn went with a strapless dress that had a thigh-high split near her left leg. As she was posing for photos on the red carpet, she accidentally showed off her thong.

Most fans who witnessed Vonn's wardrobe malfunction claim it wasn't an accident. They believe she wanted to go viral, even if it meant showing off her underwear.

"Can you say attention seeker? Wardrobe malfunction," one person wrote on X.

"She did it for attention," another person said.

"Not a wardrobe malfunction. Should not worked the dress with the high slip," a third person declared.

"She should try wearing a normal dress," a fourth person commented.

For what it's worth, Vonn hasn't addressed her wardrobe malfunction online.

Vonn did, however, change her outfit before the ESPYS actually started. She wore a long gown that didn't include a leg slit.
