The Freeride Junior World Championships is scheduled to take place in Kappl, Austria, this coming January, and the organizers of the event are now sharing which skiers will compete.

The competition serves as a launch pad towards the highest level of freeride competition, the Freeride World Tour. Several young skiers who competed in the Junior World Championships have since punched their ticket to the Freeride World Tour, including Marcus Goguen, Astrid Cheylus, and Martin Bender.

Given the age of the competitors in this year’s Junior World Championships, you may not recognize their names—they’re still teenagers and haven’t been around long enough to make international names for themselves, after all.

To help, these are two skiers we’re looking forward to watching, with the full roster lists included afterwards.

On the women’s side, American fans should keep an eye on Hannah Epsteyn. Last winter, she won the Silver Belt at Sugar Bowl, California, with an enormous double backflip. If you don’t know it already, Epsteyn’s likely a name you’ll be hearing more of in the future.

The Frenchman Noah Peizerat is the reigning men’s junior champion. He’s a recent addition to the Armada skis team and, like many freeride up-and-comers, lives in the space between freestyle and big mountain chops. He can lay down a mean turn, but also has a double cork 1080 in his bag.
