Heading to Snowbird for Closing Weekend? Read This First

Memorial Day weekend is almost upon us, and one of North America’s primary late-season ski destinations, Snowbird, Utah, is letting skiers and snowboarders know what its final days of operation will look like.

Similar to other ski resorts, Snowbird has shifted to a spring operating schedule and, until Saturday, May 25, 2025, is closed for skiing and riding. On Saturday, the mountain’s lifts will fire up for the last time this season, staying open through Memorial Day, Monday, May 26.

Four lifts are on tap: Peruvian, Little Cloud, Mineral Basin, and the Tram. They’ll be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. all weekend. Skiers and riders will not have to download the Tram at the end of the day.

Snowbird’s spring concert series, Plazapalooza, continues with live performances from Tribe of I, Theoretical Blonde, and Silver Tongue Devils on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, respectively.

A meal deal will be available on Monday at Snowbird, too. For $5, you can pick up a hot dog, chips, and a Pepsi drink.

What about the weather?

At the time of writing this, it looks mostly good. On Saturday and Sunday at Snowbird, there’s a chance of rain, but warm temperatures are forecasted. Consider packing a T-shirt and a ski coat so you’re ready for any outcome.

As far as true spring skiing weather goes, Monday, fittingly, appears to be the best day, with sunny skies and a high near 70 degrees.

Also, at the time of writing this, lift tickets to Snowbird over the closing weekend range from $126 to $140, but with an Ikon Pass, you won’t need to pay a cent as long as you haven’t already blown through your seven multi-pass days shared between Snowbird and Alta.

Beyond Memorial Day and Snowbird’s closing, there are few options for lift-accessed spring skiing throughout North America.

Still, if you don’t mind hopping in the car or booking a plane ticket, you could, to name a few mountains worth visiting, keep skiing at Timberline Lodge, Oregon; Mammoth Mountain, California; or—starting May 28, weather and conditions permitting—Beartooth Basin, Wyoming.
