In my opinion, if there's one event that doesn't get enough hype in freeskiing, it's The Swatch Nines.
The event is essentially a massive progression session on features dreamed up by athletes. It ends up being a world-class playground to showcase their skills on. This year's build was designed during the Creator's Cabin incubator session in November of 2024 by athletes like Nico Vuignier, Brooke D’Hondt, Fridtjof Tischendorf, and Rell Harwood.
From April 7-12, 2025, athletes will return to the slopes of Schilthorn, Switzerland for the third year in a row, and the 17th year of the Nines event. The lineup has just been announced, and it's absolutely stacked.

This year's Swatch Nines event will feature some of the best park skiers around. Some of the best female freestyle skiers such as Sarah Hoeffelin, Ruby Andrews, Megan Oldham, Mathilde Gremaud, Lara Wolf, and Kirsty Muir are slated to attend. On the men's side, the Nines course will see Alex Hackel's unique style, Dennis Ranalter's unrelenting on-piste steeze, and many more of freeskiing's best athletes.
Names like Birk Ruud, Luca Harrington, Nico Porteous, Max Moffat, and more will surely pique the interest of freestyle fans. The event features a pretty good split of male and female skiers as well as skiers and snowboarders for all you single plank fans.

Also worth noting is the inclusion of adaptive skier Jay Rawe from Lake Tahoe, California. Rawe wowed two years ago at Swatch Nines, and is poised to go big again.
The build itself started shaping up a couple days ago as well, and is already looking epic.
“Every year, I think that it’s impossible to top the features that we’ve already built, and every year I am proved wrong by the endless creativity of our riders and course designers. This year’s setup is more playful than ever, and we can’t wait to share it with you and see what the athletes make of it," said Nines founder, Nico Zacek.
Maybe its because I'm a photographer, but the thing that's always stood out about Nines builds is that the features themselves are basically a work of art. The opportunities to work with light and shadows amongst the dynamic movements of slopestyle are *chef's kiss* incredible, if anyone wants to fly me to Europe...
