A 20-year-old Kansas man died at Winter Park Resort, Colorado, after hitting a tree on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, according to a statement shared by the Fraser Winter Park Police Department.
At about 10:52 a.m., Winter Park's ski patrol received a call about the incident on the ski trail Lupin and responded immediately, police said.
According to the police, before the patrol's arrival, guests treated the 20-year-old skier with CPR. Once the patrol arrived, they took over resuscitation efforts and transported the fallen skier to the Denver Health Winter Park Medical Center, which is located at the base of the ski resort. There, he was pronounced dead.
Police said the Kansas man was wearing a helmet. They said they or the Grand County Coroner's Office would release his name at the appropriate time.
"We join Winter Park Resort in extending our deepest and heartfelt condolences to the man's family and friends during this extremely difficult time," police said.
