Earlier this month, Mountain Capital Partners (MCP)—a Durango-based resort conglomerate—announced that it would acquire La Parva, a Chilean ski resort.

In the announcement, MCP hinted that La Parva would likely join its other South American holding, Valle Nevado, on the conglomerate's multi-resort offering: the Power Pass. Those plans are now solidified.

This afternoon, MCP confirmed that the Power Pass will "include 7 interconnected days to Valle Nevado and La Parva during the 2024 Chilean ski season," effectively giving Power Pass holders "access to 12 months of skiing."

La Parva and Valle Nevado already share  borders, making skiing from one resort to the other possible. Together, they form a single, enormous South American offering bolstered by significant backcountry access. "With these two world-class resorts, we are committed to creating the largest and best lift-served resort in the world," said James Coleman, MCP's managing partner.

The resort's shared future under MCP is still in flux. However, MCP has expressed on multiple occasions that they intend to make enjoying both areas together as easy as possible. Including La Parva on the Power Pass is one step towards that goal.

In a conversation with POWDER's Cam Burns, MCP's head of strategic planning, Stacey Glaser said, "We're also working on lift ticket options that will work at both Chilean resorts" and that "by far, the most frequent questions we're seeing are from guests in Chile asking how they can access both their home and neighboring mountains this winter."

Alongside sharing the Power Pass news, MCP noted that its free pass programs—the Power Kids pass and the Super Senior pass—now work at La Parva and Valle Nevado. These passes let kids (12 and under) and seniors (75 and older) ski for free, respectively, and have no blackout dates.
