Lindsey Vonn’s Olympic dream came to a heartbreaking end during her first event at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics. The U.S. skiing icon crashed just seconds into her run at the women’s downhill final on Sunday. Vonn suffered a fractured left leg, which required multiple surgeries. The injury ruled the 41-year-old out of the rest of the Winter Games.

Breezy Johnson redeemed Team USA after Vonn’s devastating crash. Johnson won gold in the same event, marking the 30-year-old's first Olympic medal.

Johnson was back in action again on Thursday at the super-G final. She did not win a medal, but she left the event with a new ring.

Johnson grabbed headlines after the super-G competition on Thursday. It wasn’t because of her performance, though. Johnson failed to podium in the event after crashing out during her run.

However, waiting for her at the finish line was her boyfriend, Connor Watkins. He got down on one knee and proposed. Johnson said "yes," creating one of the most heartwarming scenes at the Winter Games.

Vonn shared her reaction to the news. She congratulated her teammate by commenting on Johnson’s Instagram post.

“So happy for you two ❤️ what a week!! ” Vonn wrote.

Vonn was not the only big-name celebrity who congratulated Johnson on her engagement. Pop megastar Taylor Swift also jumped on the comments section to send her congratulatory message.

Watkins’ proposal involved a piece of wood engraved with the lyrics of one of Swift’s songs. It was a lovely touch for Johnson, who is a certified Swiftie.
