POWDER has been awaiting a selection of photos from what Boyne Mountain, Michigan advertised to be their final day of the Winter 24/25 season on Sunday, May 18, 2025.

The photos haven't arrived from our friends at Boyne yet, and for whatever reason, while Boyne was on my mind, I decided to take a glance at the resort's Victor Glacier webcam on YouTube.

I couldn't believe my eyes as I opened the feed around 12:30 p.m. PST on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. Had a snowcat re-groomed the lone remaining run on the Victor Glacier? It certainly appeared that way, but why would the ski resort redistribute snow and form a groomed surface if last Sunday was closing day?

Boyne initially planned to remain open through Memorial Day weekend 2025, but announced that last weekend would have to be the final hoorah due to the quickly melting snowpack. Could this decision have been reversed?

POWDER has reached out to Boyne Mountain Resort for comment, but has not received a response at this time. In the meantime, check out a screenshot of what appears to be a groomed Victor Glacier. Screenshot taken at 12:39 p.m. PST on May 21, 2025.

UPDATE, 1:06PM PST: Boyne has confirmed with POWDER that they are reopening the Victor Glacier for a hike park on Saturday, May 24, 2025 and Sunday, May 25, 2025 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. A Boyne representative confirmed with POWDER that Sunday, May 18, 2025 was the resort's last day for lift-served skiing.

While Boyne won't be open for a traditional lift-served skiing experience, it will join Palisades Tahoe, CA; Snowbird, UT; Mammoth Mountain, CA; Timberline Lodge, OR; Mt. Bachelor, OR; Crystal Mountain, WA; Beartooth Basin, WY; and Arizona Snowbowl, AZ as the only ski areas open in The United States over Memorial Day Weekend 2025.
