Michigan Ski Patroller Roasts Littering Skiers: "It's Pretty Disgusting"

A ski patroller at Boyne Mountain, Michigan, is pleading with guests to stop littering.

In a short video shared to @patrollers_perspective, the patroller stands next to a heaping pile of trash in the snow.

"I'm here with the trash we picked up from under our lift lines this morning. It's pretty disgusting," says the solemn patroller. "Please have some self-respect. Use the trash cans we have all over the mountain. Stop throwing trash off the lifts."

Trash at ski resorts is, unfortunately, nothing new.

Many ski resorts host trail and under-lift cleanup days after the snow melts. Breckenridge famously removed over 800 pounds of trash during a cleanup day in 2024, and a TikTok channel called @tahoepatrol used to regularly go viral for collecting "Lift Loot" under the chairlifts of Boreal Mountain near Truckee, California.

The "Loot" usually consisted of discarded vapes, AirPods, beer cans, and even ski passes.

Unfortunately, most items found littered under chairlifts could have easily been thrown away in a trash can.

Accidents happen, and dropped ski gear like poles, gloves, and goggles are regularly found under a chairlift. That makes sense, but trash, especially beer cans and Fireball shooters, should be properly disposed of in a trash can. It's a pretty simple rule to follow.

Don't be a litterer. Don't be that guy or gal who ruins others' ski experience.
