Today, March 27, 2025, Mikalea Shiffrin clinched the 101st victory of her legendary career.

Shiffrin's 101st victory happened on home soil during the 2025 World Cup Slalom Finals at Sun Valley, Idaho. In front of a raucous American-filled crowd, Shiffrin beat German skier Lena Duerr by an impressive 1.13 seconds.

There's no doubt Shiffrin is the GOAT of ski racing, but at what point does her continued greatness warrant a new title altogether? Tom Brady's seven Super Bowl wins earned him GOAT status in the team sport of American football, but 101 individual wins on the World Cup circuit is unfathomable.

Shiffrin exploded with emotion after crossing the finish line, something that we don't often see. Most times, Shiffrin seems to be relieved, or even calm, after claiming victory, an act she's quite familiar with.

On the home turf of Sun Valley and in view of thousands of cheering fans, however, Shiffrin screamed with joy, pumped her arms, and hollered back at the crowd. As an American, it's hard not to get goosebumps watching the emotional moment unfold.

Shiffrin spoke with NBC's Heather Cox following the victory. She discussed the tough conditions, citing warm temps, but said that she felt, "really connected with the snow". That was evident as she carved her way to a dominant victory on Run 2.

Cox asked Shiffrin about the nerves she claimed to be experiencing prior to the race. Despite Shiffrin's familiarity with being in the global spotlight, the pressure of performing in the final event of the season, especially in front of home fans, is something she battles.

"Yeah, it's a balance," Shiffrin explained to Cox about turning nerves into a positive thing. "It just boils down to me being in the start gate, before I go, that I'm just thinking about like, strong things. I have a lot of doubt through the day, but in that moment, it's like 'just focus on the technical things'."

Shiffrin finishes the 2024-2025 World Cup season with four wins, an impressive feat considering her brutal injury that took place back at Killington in November.
