Moose Sprints Down Ski Trails At Jackson Hole

According to USA Today, the moose encounter was filmed by skier Kenny Rynearson.

The moose eventually veered into the woods after running alongside the skiers.

To Jackson out-of-towners, this might look like a shocking video.

However, moose are commonly spotted residents of the Jackson, Wyoming, area. One local in the comments section of this video went as far as calling them "pests" due to their frequent appearances slopeside and elsewhere.

As for the "pest" remark—it's kind of true, but moose aren't thriving like, say, squirrels in the Jackson, Wyoming area. You won't spot one on every ski run or street corner. The Wyoming Wildlife Advocates report that the moose population around Jackson has declined to only 276 herd members. Previously, they numbered between 1,000 and 3,000.

What if you do run into a moose, though? Don't fret too much—they aren't generally considered aggressive animals. However, due to their size—moose can weigh up to 1,600 pounds—they can inflict considerable damage should they choose to do so. Thus, wildlife experts recommend that you give moose a wide berth.
