Officials at Mt. Hood Meadows just announced that they have decided to extend their season due to the Winter picking up since February.
A post from Mt. Hood Meadows on Instagram two days ago reported that the resort "will now stay open seven days a week through April 28th."
The resort is planning on staying open through May, as well. Mt. Hood Meadows will be open from Friday to Sunday May 3 - 5 and 10 - 12.
For the last weekend of planned operations, Mt. Hood Meadows will open Friday and Saturday the 17th and 18th.
These bonus weekends will be limited operations with the plan to run Mt. Hood Express, Cascade Express and Buttercup from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM. See these lifts on the trail map below.
Mt. Hood Meadows saw an inch of fresh snow in the last 12 hours, 3 inches in the last 24, and 7 inches in the last 48.
The groomers are reported to be dense, packed powder up high, and a mix of hardpack, packed powder, and granular down low. Off the groom, skiers may find things a little dicier, as conditions are reported to be dust on crust. However, these areas, like the rest of the mountain, will accumulate snow as the day goes on.
As of 11:30am this morning, the north side of the resort remains closed due to a power outage experienced over the weekend, meaning there is no Hood River Express (the HRM lodge will be closed), Heather or Shooting Star. The mountain is currently working to restore services.
