The Revolt 96 is Völkl’s park offering for everyday park skiers. They have the narrower Revolts for those who ski big jumps or (for some strange reason) halfpipe but the 96 is the one mere mortals will be looking at. It has the tried and tested combination of a solid mid-section with softer tips and tails, though compared to Line or K2 for example, these are on the stiffer stride.

Groomers & Resort Skiing:

The Revolt 96 skis well enough on groomers. Like many park skis it prefers to be skied with a centered stance, and like most Völkl skis, it’s on the damper end of the spectrum. Our testing crew admired the edge hold, which is one of the best in its class, and predictability and stability. But some found the ski too stiff to be fun, and lacking in bounce between turns.

"The Völkl Revolt 96’s 96mm waist width is the perfect balance between stability and maneuverability. On groomed runs, the ski holds a solid edge and provides reliable stability at high speeds." - Lucas Duckworth, ski tester

Powder & Mixed Conditions:

The Revolt 96 is on the narrow side for powder skiing and with a centered mount, it really isn’t a ski you’d want for more than occasionally skiing some moderate depths of fresh snow. However, its dampness and pointed shape make it quite adept in mixed snow, choppy conditions, etc.

Park & Jibbing:

However, these are essentially a park ski, which is where they show their best qualities. They have a similar feel to many versatile park skis, with enough flex in the tip and tail combined with a smidge of rocker to allow butter trick and a stiff midsection for stability on jumps. The dampness and predictability make the Revolt 96 stand out, especially when it gets later in the day and the landings are chopped up.

"This ski is super sturdy! Handles speed, carves, rails, side hits and jumps well. My favorite part about the ski was the stiffness on jumps. It has nice pop and was fun to rip around on." - Rylee Hackler, ski tester

"I absolutely love this ski! It’s the perfect park ski for a beginner to an advanced rider. I had a heavy jump session with them and they rip jumps with a pretty neutral swing weight making it feel easy to spin. They were a pretty stiff ski so it kept me supported on the landings as well but soft enough to do some nice butters with as well." - Asa France, ski tester

Conclusion:

The Revolt 96 has the predictable nature of other skis in the Revolt line with a fairly damp feel making them feel reliable in less than perfect conditions. They have a balanced swing weight and work for a bit of everything when it comes to park skiing. They are definitely a jack of all trades kind of park ski that could work from beginners to advanced skiers.
