Earlier this week, non-profit action sports focused boarding school & camp, Wy'East Academy (Oregon) unveiled the latest addition to their year-round training facility; a one-of-a-kind Olympic level ramp & landing airbag.

The new airbag, which is the largest one in North America, is a key addition for athlete progression in the summer. Located near the base of Mt. Hood, Wy'East & Windell's Camp are a premiere location for skiers to train in the summer.

Olympic snowboarder Shaun White is a major investor in Wy'East, Windell's, and High Cascade Snowboard Camp, and played an integral part in making the new airbag possible. The new equipment comes as part of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team's Project Gold youth development camps to identify and train potential future Olympians.

White was present at the airbag's unveiling as part of a Signature Session with his brand, Whitespace, and gave it try himself, alongside a crew of Windell's and High Cascade campers. The bag itself is made by Austrian company, Banger Bags. See below.

“I’m just out here having fun; this airbag is game-changing for the next generation of athlete. This is such a cool place, I used to come here every summer. I remember camping out in a van in the parking lot of Timberline and brushing my teeth in the lodge," White told a local news outlet.

White is also helping to host a Windell's Signature Session at Mt. Hood from July 6-July 12 under his recently founded Snow League. The session will feature athletes from The Snow League, including some of the yet-to-be-announced freeskiers joining the Snow League ahead of their first freeskiing event in December of 2025.
