Mikaela Shiffrin is set to compete in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy, in February, marking her fourth appearance at the Games. The Team USA skier is coming off her ninth slalom World Cup Crystal Globe title, which she secured on Jan. 25.

Shiffrin has become one of the most well-known skiers in the world over the last several years. The 30-year-old has won three Olympic medals during her career, including gold at the 2014 Sochi Games and a gold and silver at the 2018 PyeongChang Games. Shiffrin also has 17 medals at the skiing World Championships, including eight gold.

Growing up in Edwards, Colorado, Mikaela Shiffrin received significant support on her path to a record-breaking career from her mother, Eileen Shiffrin. Eileen began coaching her when Mikaela was 15 and traveled with her on the World Cup circuit until 2019, when she stepped away following the death of her own mother.

And on Sunday, Shiffrin revealed that Adidas will release a new video ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics, one that tells the story of her rise to becoming one of the world’s top skiers from Eileen’s point of view.

The video includes clips of Shiffrin growing up with her mom, as well as moments from her world championship victories. It also highlights the serious abdominal injury she suffered at a World Cup event in late 2024, when she sustained a deep puncture wound that caused "severe trauma to her oblique muscles."

"Mikaela Shiffrin by her Mom, a story only Eileen can tell," Adidas wrote on Instagram in a joint post with Mikaela Shiffrin. "Coming soon on @adidas YouTube."

Shiffrin will be competing in the women's slalom and giant slalom events at Milano Cortina 2026 from Feb. 14-18 at Tofane Alpine Skiing Centre.
