Utah's been getting it good. However, with great snow comes great responsibility, so, as of today, The Utah Avalanche Center has issued an AVALANCHE WARNING.

Officials at the Utah Avalanche Center report that "strong wind over the past few days, along with heavy dense snowfall, has created very dangerous avalanche conditions."

"The avalanche danger is HIGH, and traveling in or under avalanche terrain is NOT recommended."

The full message included the information that the warning is in effect until 6:00 MST Friday, so the rest of today and all day tomorrow.

This warning encompasses the areas of Utah including the Wasatch Range south of I-80, the Western Utah Mountains, the Wasatch Plateau and Skyline Mountains of central Utah, the Abajo mountains in southeast Utah, and mountain ranges in southwestern Utah including the Tushars and areas near Cedar City.

"Dangerous avalanche conditions are expected to last through the weekend."

These officials advise people to avoid being on any steep slopes where avalanches run.

It goes without saying, but go with a buddy, bring the proper gear, and plan ahead. And... go score some!
