You Can Ski at These North American Resorts This Weekend

It was a slow trickle at first, but lift access for the 2024-2025 ski season is becoming increasingly widespread throughout North America. Ski resorts in Utah, California, Alberta and, of course, Colorado are all preparing to welcome skiers this weekend. It’ll be the busiest stretch of the season thus far by a significant margin.

Keep in mind that operating schedules can be a bit complicated this time of year as resorts manage early season weather. Some ski resorts, like Purgatory, Colorado, are offering preview weekends before daily operations begin. Solitude Mountain Resort, Utah, has adopted a similar approach. The resort opened on November 8th, but won’t officially start the season until November 15th.

Some of the early-season jostling is historic. Pajarito Mountain, New Mexico, is opening on November 9th thanks to an enormous helping of early-season snowfall. The opening date marks the first time in roughly 40 years that Pajarito has welcomed skiers before Thanksgiving. Brian Head Resort, Utah, opened today, November 8th, which is its second earliest opening ever (Brian Head’s record was set on November 4th, 2022).
